GRADUATE EMPLOYMENT
Appointments for graduates commencing employment in 2010 have been made.
Our selection process for graduates is generally as follows.
In early April each year we write to the University of Tasmania Faculty of Law asking that notices be placed on faculty notice boards relating to the law graduates of that year who will be undertaking the legal practice course in the following year and, subsequent to admission, will be seeking employment.
In addition, for the past couple of years and, we expect, on an ongoing basis, Page Seager has been involved in the University of Tasmania Law Fair. That fair is held each year, usually on one day in late March at the University of Tasmania Law Faculty. Page Seager’s involvement is to have its own booth manned by two of the firm’s practitioners who are available to speak with prospective graduates and to distribute information sheets to prospective applicants.
Applications for graduate positions usually close at the end of April, with interviews being conducted in the following few months.
Page Seager generally employ two graduates per year. However, the intake can vary depending upon the firms needs and the graduates who are applying for employment.
We are an equal opportunity employer which endeavours to offer a supportive environment to its graduate practitioners whilst giving them a broad experience across a wide range of legal practices.
Page Seager has a structured short-term rotation system. This system involves graduates spending relatively short periods of time (3 - 6 months) with specific practitioners during which training in that practitioner's particular area of expertise is provided. This system ensures that graduates receive a solid grounding in all of those areas of the law in which the firm practices.
We encourage our graduates to be active in our continuing legal education and mentoring programs as well as social activities, such as our regular Friday night drinks, end of financial year and Christmas functions. |
