Mark joined Page Seager in 1999. He became a partner in 2006. He practices in the area of dispute resolution. Including, but not limited, to commercial and general litigation, estate litigation and construction litigation and arbitration.
Background
Mark completed a Bachelor of Science and Law at the University of Tasmania in 1998. He then spent some time in Antarctica before completing the required legal practice course and starting with Page Seager.

David has a demonstrated history in the provision of OHS training, lobbying, and advice through his senior executive roles in both private enterprise and a peak employer organisation. David is able to assist clients by developing and presenting tailored training programs to minimise legal liability and develop their staff in the full range of OHS matters.
An accredited mediator David can assist clients in alternative dispute resolution for workplace disputes and has had particular success with facilitating management workshops to align cultural and OHS objectives. David regularly provides media commentary and lobbying on OHS matters.
Experience
David has tutored in workplace law, and human resources at the University of Tasmania, and is a member of the Tasmanian Law Society, Industrial Relations Society of Tasmania, and Australian Human Resources Institute, past member of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry OHS Committee, and Minister’s Asbestos related diseases Steering Committee.

Nick Sweeney

Nick commenced with Page Seager in 1978 and was admitted to practice in 1980. He became a partner in 1988. Nick practises in the insurance litigation area with particular emphasis on workers’ compensation and industrial accident litigation, as well as practising extensively in the field of liability insurance. He appears regularly as Counsel before the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Tribunal and the Supreme Court of Tasmania. He provides advice to a broad range of insurers and employers who are self insured.
Nick regularly conducts seminars with employers and insurers in relation to changes in workers’ compensation and claims management. He edits a commentary to the industry in relation to workers compensation. His other professional area of practice is in Occupational Health & Safety with particular emphasis on advising clients in relation to compliance with statutory requirements and the defence of clients charged with offences.

His comprehensive understanding of his clients’ business objectives and the industry in which they operate has consistently delivered strong practically focussed outcomes in this area. Mathew has a particular expertise and understanding of Asbestos related diseases and workplace fatalities. Mathew regularly appears as Counsel before the Supreme Court of Tasmania and Victoria, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Federal Court, in respect to both trials and appeals and has appeared as counsel in the High Court.

Mathew is a member of the Tasmanian Law Society, a past President of the Tasmanian Bar Association, a past board member of the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute, and a member of the Government advisory panel into Workers Compensation and Asbestos reform. Luke’s experience in workers compensation, public liability claims, coronial inquests, and medical negligence provides a strong basis for his OHS practice. He advises clients on a range of OHS issues including compliance with OHS laws, the management of major safety incidents, the management of internal safety investigations and investigations conducted by statutory authorities.
Experience
Prior to joining Page Seager, Luke worked as Crown Counsel for the State of Tasmania and has significant experience in dealing with various government agencies. Luke is a member of the Tasmanian Law Society, was previously president of the Law Society of Tasmania’s Southern Young Lawyers Committee in 2006 and 2007, and was the Tasmanian representative on the Australian Young Lawyers Committee in 2008.
