Page Seager appoints new Partner and Senior Associate to its Technology and IP Team

Page Seager Lawyers is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon McDonald as a Partner and Kelly Marshall as a Senior Associate.

Simon_McDonald-2Simon has specialist experience in technology and intellectual property law. He has significant experience in the IT sector having acted on a range of complex IT transactions and disputes including strategic and business process outsourcing transactions, system integrations, licensing and support and cloud and data analytics procurements. As part of his IT practice, Simon regularly advises clients on privacy issues.

Simon also advises research organisations, universities and commercial entities on R&D arrangements and the exploitation of intellectual property assets.

Before joining Page Seager, Simon was a Special Counsel in the K&L Gates Commercial and Outsourcing Group. He has also worked in-house in Australia as Managing Counsel – Global Technology Services with IBM and Senior Counsel with CA Technologies (one of the largest independent software companies in the world). During his time in private practice he has completed secondments with several prominent research organisations.

Kelly_Marshall-2Kelly regularly advises clients on major technology outsourcing arrangements, new technology protection, commercialisation and strategy, brand and intellectual property protection (including trade marks) and cybersecurity compliance. She has a particular interest and expertise in the media and entertainment industry.

Before joining Page Seager Kelly worked at Clayton Utz, during which time she completed a secondment with a major telecommunications provider. She has a Masters in Communications Law with Honours from the University of Technology, Sydney.

With the appointment of Simon and Kelly, Page Seager further strengthens the depth and experience of its Technology and Intellectual Property team. Page Seager’s Joint Managing Partner, Gerry Connolly, welcomes the continued growth of the team, “The appointment of Simon and Kelly will add an entirely new dimension to the practice to assist existing Partner, Jason Dixon to provide our clients with preeminent legal services in the technology and intellectual property sector.”

With their addition, Page Seager’s Technology and Intellectual Property team now consists of 2 Partners (Jason and Simon), 2 Senior Associates (Kelly and Nathaniel Flinn) and a Lawyer (Rhiannon Fletcher) across its Melbourne and Hobart offices. This is consistent with the firm’s continuing effort to provide its clients experienced and quality legal services, competitively, in an increasingly digital and technology driven business environment.
