Rod advises clients in a wide range of industries including energy, food processing, manufacturing, financial services, transport, environmental consultancy, entertainment and advertising. He has significant experience in advising on commercial transactions as well as operational, structuring, compliance, contractual and financing issues.

Prior to joining Page Seager in 2014, Rod was a partner in a mid-sized Melbourne firm for over 14 years, before running his own practice for 3 years mainly working as a virtual in-house counsel for a number of clients.


Rod’s long term and close relationships with clients has enabled him to develop a significant understanding of each client’s business and provide focused practical advice to directors and management.

His experience includes:

  • Acting as counsel to a Victorian based family owned meat business since 1997 with a significant focus on transactions and restructuring, asset protection and succession related issues.
  • Advising a Western Australian energy retailer on matters concerning the financing, development and operation of a power station in Western Australia.
  • Work with various energy companies in relation to compliance, energy trading, and connection, operational and maintenance issues affecting generation assets in Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Western Australia.
  • Involvement with business sale and share sale transactions and joint ventures in different industry sectors, and assisting clients with associated due diligence, structuring and shareholder issues.
  • Advising businesses on Corporations Act requirements, director responsibilities and other compliance related matters.
