Areas of expertise


Anne advises and works closely with Human Resource and Operations Managers of medium to large, private and State-owned corporations.

She provides advice on all employment related matters, including: employee entitlements, workplace compliance, discipline, restructuring, performance management and dealing with workplace grievances.


Anne has particular expertise in:

  • managing injured employees;
  • defending discrimination, bullying and unfair dismissal claims;
  • preparation of employment contracts, policies and procedures; and
  • interpreting and applying long service leave legislation.

Having initially practiced in workers compensation for many years, Anne has a unique insight into managing the cross-over between compensable and non-compensable claims. She regularly assists employers to manage injuries and illnesses, including mental illness, in a way that maximises safety and operational efficiency while minimising legal risk.

Examples of recent experience include:

  • preparing suites of workplace policies and procedures for local government and assisting with implementation;
  • obtaining a decision from the Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Tribunal confirming that a service provider’s practices were not discriminatory;
  • preparing a contract of employment to engage a CEO and advising during negotiations; and
  • assisting a company through a process to restructure which included redundancies and some employees being redeployed.

Anne delivers workplace training in many areas, including managing injured employees, unlawful and inappropriate workplace behaviour, the roles of contact officers and managing performance of employees.

Anne works in partnership with clients to identify, anticipate and respond to their employment issues and to assist in finding sensible, commercial and lawful solutions.
