Due to the widespread effects of COVID-19 on businesses, the Australian Government has extended the reporting deadlines and issued COVID-19 guidance for entities required to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth). This article outlines the new deadlines for modern slavery statements and discusses how entities can explain in their statements any impact COVID-19 has had on their ability to address modern slavery risks.
