Areas of expertise


Owen is focused on delivering commercial solutions to complicated legal problems facing those who do business in the construction industry. He specialises in:

  • dispute resolution, particularly in security of payment claims, litigation and arbitration;
  • pre-contractual negotiations, drafting project documentation and providing advice in relation to construction and infrastructure projects; and
  • acting for clients the subject of investigation by regulatory authorities, and defending clients charged with white collar crime or similar offences.


Owen has acted in a number of significant high-profile litigation and regulatory matters, including some of the Australia’s largest and most complex disputes involving construction and infrastructure companies. He has appeared in many superior courts and tribunals around Australia.

His recent experience includes:

  • negotiating, advising on, and drafting a number of construction and infrastructure contracts, including AS and bespoke contracts;
  • acting for clients in construction ‘security of payment’ matters;
  • defending Booz & Company (Australia) Ltd in litigation arising from the Lane Cove Tunnel infrastructure project;
  • defending 4 non-executive directors of James Hardie Industries NV against civil penalty proceedings brought by ASIC; and
  • acting for employees of major Australian and international financial institutions the subject of investigations by ASIC and/or in subsequent civil penalty or criminal proceedings.

Before joining Page Seager, Owen worked at a number of highly regarded boutique law firms in Sydney and Perth.
