Overview

Amy works with some of Australia’s largest insurers, medical defence organisations, and national hospital networks specialising in claims involving personal injury, professional indemnity, and public and product liability.

Experience

Examples of Amy’s experience include:

  • defending complex medical negligence claims, including third party proceedings and claims for contribution and indemnity;
  • acting for medical defence organisations, supporting their members in common law proceedings, disciplinary proceedings, investigations, and inquests;
  • advising insured medical practitioners in the defence of investigations commenced by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Office of the Health Complaints Commission (OHCC);
  • defending public and product liability claims for personal injury and property damage in both the Supreme and Federal Court, examples include slips, trips and falls, occupiers’ liability and defective products and consequential loss;
  • insurance policy interpretation, including policy coverage and dual insurance issues;
  • risk management;
  • providing support for witnesses and interested parties in the supply of information and/or appearances to give evidence;
  • instructing expert witnesses and the preparation of documents for use in Supreme and Federal Court proceedings;
  • acting as instructing solicitor in Supreme and Federal Court proceedings.

Amy is a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA).

Amy has appeared in the Tasmanian Civil & Administrative Tribunal, and the Supreme and Magistrates Courts of Tasmania.
