Overview

Sarah specialises in advising employers on a wide range of employment issues, including matters relating to the drafting of employment contracts, managing conduct and performing issues, conducting workplace investigations, advising and interpreting enterprise agreements and managing unfair dismissal and general protections claims. Sarah seeks to achieve commercially sound and practical outcomes for her clients, which minimises the risk of disputes and is trauma-informed.

Prior to joining Page Seager, Sarah worked at an international law firm based in Canberra in their employment and labour law practice. Sarah has also worked for the Australian Public Service at a large Commonwealth Government department.

Experience

A sample of Sarah’s recent experience includes:

  • representing and negotiating a settlement for a large government department (on instructions from its insurer) in an unfair dismissal application before the Fair Work Commission;
  • conducting and reporting on a code of conduct investigation into two senior government employees at a large government department;
  • advising on and managing a high-conflict employee at a large government department, including subsequent advice on managing their code of conduct investigation and subsequent termination;
  • providing advice to a large corporate entity on managing an ill and injured executive employee; and
  • providing advice to a large government department on the termination of an employee who had been incarcerated.
