Overview

Eve has experience advising public and private sector clients in relation to a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters, including general civil litigation, trust and estate disputes, and administrative law / judicial review matters.

Prior to joining the Dispute Resolution group at Page Seager in January 2022, Eve worked as a lawyer at another Hobart law firm, practising primarily in litigation and dispute resolution. Eve was recognised in the Doyles Guide as a Recommended Wills & Estates Litigation Lawyer in 2021.

Eve regularly appears in the Magistrates Court and Supreme Court of Tasmania, and acts for clients to resolve matters through mediation, arbitration, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Eve enjoys working closely with her clients to find simple solutions to complex legal problems. Her focus is on providing practical and decisive advice in a timely and efficient way.

Experience

Examples of Eve’s experience include:

  • debt recovery for private and public sector clients including through proceedings in the Magistrates Court or Supreme Court, enforcement of securities, and statutory demands;
  • disputes regarding real property, including disputes arising under purchase/sale contracts, caveats, easements, and commercial tenancy arrangements;
  • advising and acting for corporate clients in relation to contentious company matters including in relation to corporate governance and insolvency matters;
  • residential and civil construction disputes and contract management, including in relation to major commercial developments and infrastructure;
  • issuing and responding to security of payment claims;
  • acting for clients, including charities, in relation to challenges to the validity of Wills and claims made under the Testator Family Maintenance Act 1912;
  • applying to the Supreme Court or Attorney-General (as appropriate) for the approval of schemes to vary charitable trusts;
  • contact negotiation and risk advice from a dispute perspective;
  • advising private and public clients about legislative interpretation and enforcement; and
  • acting in relation to applications under the Judicial Review Act 2000 and various other administrative law and planning appeals in the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
