Overview

Kathryn provides advice for property owners and developers, government and state owned corporations and local government on tendering, probity, governance, commercial contracts and risk management solutions. She also drafts and negotiates a wide range of project documentation, including construction and infrastructure contracts, information technology contracts and procurement documentation. She is experienced in the use of AS construction contracts and also prepares bespoke construction, equipment supply, asset management and other commercial contracts to suit individual client needs. Kathryn also regularly provides advice in relation to governance, privacy, information technology and intellectual property issues.

Experience

Kathryn has over 20 years of experience in procurement and tendering, probity and governance, construction and infrastructure projects and technology and intellectual property transactions. She has significant experience in advising on appropriate procurement methods and delivery models, contract risk management and project operation. Kathryn prepares and negotiates a wide range of procurement contracts such as subcontracts, supply agreements, consultancy agreements, services agreements, software licensing and software development agreements and works agreements.

 

Examples of recent major projects include:

  • infrastructure projects (e.g. airport runway overlays, bridge upgrades, dam enlargements, water and wastewater schemes, water metering projects, road and bridge construction);
  • building projects (e.g. office fitouts, hotel developments, factory expansions, affordable housing projects and school redevelopments);
  • energy and resource projects (e.g. renewable energy and mining projects);
  • procurement projects (e.g. equipment supply contracts, asset maintenance contracts and installation contracts);
  • information technology and intellectual property projects (e.g. software development agreements, software licensing and implementation agreements, trade mark registration and intellectual property advice);
  • marine developments (e.g. vessel building and refurbishment); and
  • probity adviser for a number of major Tasmanian redevelopment projects.

 

Kathryn has also provided detailed privacy compliance advice in relation to both government and private sector obligations under the Privacy Act (including mandatory data breach notification obligations) and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation.

Kathryn regularly provides training and seminars to clients as well as industry associations such as the Local Government Professionals Tasmania, Australian Corporate Counsel and the Civil Contractors Federation.
